A Good Product For Pain Relief

Bengay Pain Relieving Patch, Ultra Strength, Regular Size ...

I use this on occasion when my arthritis flares up or when I’m sore from exercise as I always have a tube of this on hand in my linen closet. Although I often try other topical pain relieving products Bengay Ultra Strength Pain Relieving Cream is one of my household standbys that I keep in the rotation. It also gives a pretty good amount of soothing warmth to my sore spots that I apply it to, but it won’t burn my skin unless I already have skin irritation. It’s not oily and absorbs in my skin fast. It soothes my aches and pains in my sides, waist, neck and achy joints. I have used this product for years and it’s a good product that does what it claims. They have also improved the smell and it’s much much better as it’s not nearly as strong as it use to be, but I have found that the smell and whether it’s very strong in this product or a lesser amount as it is now, doesn’t matter in it’s effectiveness.. I have also used Bengay Ultra Strength Pain Relieving Cream for menstrual cramps as well in the past and it also brought relief for that.

Helps Relieve My Lower Back Pain

I sprained my tail bone about 15 years ago, a swing broke while I was in mid-air! You can say “Ouch”!! I develop back pain when I’m sitting for long periods of time. I always have BenGay Ultra Strength in my medicine cabinets. Last week, my family were driving for 3 hours for a camping trip. I apparently slept on my back for long period of time. My lower back was achy as well as my neck. I told my family that I’m going to use Bengay on myself. They hate the strong smell, however, I don’t mind the smell at all!! Bengay’s cream has a light texture, not heavy in my opinion. It can seam greasy but it’s so easy to apply on your skin. I used a generous amount on my lower back and neck last week. I didn’t want my annoying pain to ruin my family’s camping trip. In less than one hour on the road, my lower back and neck were fine! I enjoyed my family camping trip for four days, pain free! I prefer to use bengay for my lower back over a pain medicine. I have tried pain meds but they are not as effective. Don’t let the size fool you, it lasts for a long time! Ben Gay Ultra Strength is economically easy on your budget!

It Helps Ease Muscle Aches And Pains But The Smell Is Strong

Pfizer Ben Gay Pain Relieving Cream, 4 oz

I like the effect of this cream because it does help relieve muscle aches and pains. I have used this multiple times on muscle aches and sprained ankles. I’ve even used it just on sore spots that needed a little bit of relief after my car accident. The main draw back for me of this product is the smell. I don’t usually mind the menthol smell because it kind of smells like peppermint but out of a dozen or so products I’ve used in this category, this one is by far the strongest smelling. The Bengay cream works and that’s the best thing about it but the smell is just a bit louder than other products. I wish there was a way to calm the smell down. I like that this comes in a resealable tube. You can also buy it in a smaller variety or a larger variety depending on your needs. The tube is travel size and I’ve throw this in my bag on my way to work on many occasions because you do need to reapply a few times throughout the day. The pain relief lasts for a couple of hours but it gradually decreases after application. It immediately goes to work tingling and soothing but after the first twenty minutes to a half hours, it starts to wan quickly over the next couple of hours. This does take the edge off of most aches, pains, bruises, and sprains. It works best if you relax and let it do its job. I don’t recommend trying to use this and then going and putting strain on the injured area. It isn’t a cure all and it just takes the edge off of the irritated area.

Do Topical Creams Work For Back Pain

Your back is sore again. You arent sure what to do this time, once youve tried stretching and a heating pad. You consider using a topical cream but do they really work?

The answer: it depends. It depends on your type of pain, the cause of your pain, and which pain relieving topical treatment you use.

Topical over-the-counter creams are absorbed by the skin and usually contain one of these main ingredients:

  • Capsaicin This causes a burning sensation, as capsaicin is found in chili peppers. Capsaicin creates a warming or burning feeling, and it works by depleting nerve cells of a chemical that sends pain messages.
  • Salicylates Contains the same ingredients as aspirin. Salicylates work best on joints close to the skin.
  • Counterirritants Contain menthol, camphor or other substances that create a cooling or burning sensation that cover up the pain.

Capsaicin

A study gave capsaicin to patients with osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. The study found that 80% of the capsaicin-treated patients experienced a reduction in pain after two weeks of applying the treatment. The burning sensation was too much for some patients, though. The study did conclude that capsaicin cream is a safe and effective treatment for arthritis.

Some over-the-counter capsaicin creams are Capzasin and Bengay. Tiger Balm also has capsaicin. It is important not to use capsaicin on broken skin or open wounds.
